Shelly M. Pranić, PhD, MSPH has strong ties to patient-centered research from past and current involvement in community-based projects. She currently leads several projects that concern racial, ethnic, and linguistic underrepresentation in clinical trials, clinical trial methodology, and media literacy. These projects have the overarching goal of identifying factors that could be targeted as interventions to improve representation in clinical trials and improving the quality of the reporting of health-related information for clinicians’ and patients’ decision-making.
Engaging all researchers in the scientific enterprise is essential. This workshop will focus on helping researchers discover ways to integrate equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) principles at different levels of their work. How can researchers reach out to different groups of participants, authors, and fellow researchers to foster inclusivity? Through interactive sessions, we’ll focus on this and other questions, with an awareness that EDI principles intersect with research integrity for upholding multifaceted research that provides relevant evidence for all.
